:: Mom's cooking ::

Assalamualaikum to all my readers.

First of all, I wanna wish Happy Aidil Adha to all Muslims and my readers. As you all know, I'm already at peace, typing this entry from the comfort of my bed. The other day's journey was a bit of a challenge for me because I woke up at 6 am and had to stay awake for the rest of the day until I reached home. And I have reached home safely. I had doubted my driving skills but judging from the other day, I think I have improved a lot. Kudos to myself! :)

Well, there is no place like home. Same goes to mom's cooking. Everything that my mom touches turn into something tasty and delicious which the reason why we can't resist whatever she makes. So, the other day when I arrived, she was busy making 6 Caramel Cakes for her loyal customers. Because she knew that I hadn't tasted her new recipe, so she had made one extra cake. I'm not bragging or anything but she didn't get so many orders for nothing. This is what Caramel Cake looks like.

~ Caramel Cake ~

My mom is a type of woman who is not scared to try new recipes online and whenever she got it all wrong, she will try again and again until she satisfies with the result. Usually if people try something new and it doesn't happen to be like what they expected, their enthusiasm will drop and they will stop making what they are making. This doesn't happen to my mom and sometimes, I wonder why I don't inherit this good gene. At least I can use it in my study.

~ I also got to eat this. She bought it during her trip to Cameron Highland last few weeks. ~

~ Dried strawberry ~

I think this is all for now. See you next time with more exciting stories. Ciao!

:: The togetherness ::

Assalamualaikum to all my readers.

Happy Sunday guys!

Last night was a hell of a night. That is, my class had an open house and we decided to make a potluck open house. So the event took place at my house and we started setting up the place right after Asar because we need to get the barbecue place ready, so that people can start digging in before midnight.

There was a lot of food prepared by us and we ate like there is no tomorrow. Haha. Honestly, I like doing this kind of stuff, you know, make lots of food and have people come by because it's really lot of fun. Well, to show you how fun we were, these photos will prove it to you guys.

:: Kinder Bueno ::

Assalamualaikum to all my readers.

Do you know that there is speculation claiming that Kinder Bueno is not halal to be eaten by Muslim? I wasn't sure of this at first, but then after I realized that there was no Halal logo by Jakim printed on the wrapper, I started to doubt the halalness of it.

Kinder Bueno is one of my favourite chocolate bar to be honest and I really wish that this rumour is untrue, so that I can enjoy my snack again. But guys, try look at this. If it's not halal, then why it is not placed at the Non-Halal food department? Do the manufacturers realized of the halal status of this food? Correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I concern, there is no official statement made by the Jakim about this and only Jakim has the right to say that whether this certain food is halal or not.

:: Open house ::

Assalamualaikum to all my readers.

The glorious month of Syawal is going to come to an end in 1 weeks and I am sure that within this period of time people are looking forward to attend as much as open houses as possible. Not to mention wedding invitations.

Living life as a common guy, I didn't get a lot of invitations to go to any open houses or wedding ceremony. Not that I wish people would invite me but it's nice to be invited and eat nice home food once a while. Speaking of that, I went to my friend's house yesterday in Shah Alam. I was quite excited since her mom and herself is a good cook so, I was looking forward to see what was there to be eaten. She served us Nasi Ayam which to me and other guests, was insanely delicious. It looked like any Nasi Ayam you can find at night markets or stalls but the taste was different. There was definitely something special in the dish. So G double O D good!

I'm living in a residential area here in Puncak Alam and there are quite a number of houses that organizing open houses but sadly we don't get invited to any of the house. We're students so, of course we'll be delighted to go because, well, who doesn't want free food right. At least I do. Okay, here I wanna share with you guys some of my moments taken during my visit to my friend's house. Actually, these photos are uploaded just don't wanna make this entry look dull and boring. Don't know whether it works or not enjoy them!

:: Hitting Bazaar Ramadhan ::

Salam to all my readers.

Lets face it, who is going to be richer the moment Ramadhan draws the curtain down? The answer is the hawkers that responsible for giving you all sort of ready-to-eat food at the bazaar Ramadhan. Every year during this fasting season, people will be more fascinated about where the bazaar will be open up or is it gonna be big like last year or I hope the one who sold ayam percik last year will be selling it this year.

I'm not saying it's wrong to go to the bazaar or anything, it's one of the must-go places during Ramadhan, other than the masjid of course. The bazaar is the alternative way for people to look for their juadah berbuka if their mothers or their spouses are busy and unable to cook for the particular day. Everyone loves to go there, myself included BUT as for me, I go there ONLY if there is no source of food for me to break my fast. Like when I was studying in Seremban last two years, me and my friends often go to the bazaar only because we didn't have the tools for cooking and if we did have, we didn't know how to cook like our mothers do. So, the last resort was, going to the bazaar.

This year, I've got the chance to spend the whole Ramadhan at home and so far, it has been a bless. Been able to sit down and enjoy the meal during berbuka and bersahur with family is a moment you can't get anywhere else. One thing that I really admire about my mother is, she likes to cook for family and we don't have to go to the bazaar anymore since she can cook pretty much everything that is being sell at the bazaar. Well, not all at once of course. My mother is the best! Love you mom! :)

:: Craving for it ::

Salam to all my readers.

I have received a lot of guessing from my readers regarding the second Wordless Wednesday picture, on my previous entry. Hereby, I want to announce that, none of the guessing is right. The picture was actually taken a year ago and there was no GCB inside of the package but a fries and a Double Cheese Burger instead.

The picture reflects my inner voice that is craving for McDonald (McD) burger and its food. It is sad to admit that there is no McD franchise here in Tanah Merah. In fact, I have to travel more than 50 km just to get a taste of McD. It's been nearly two months since the last time I ate the burger. I'm not bragging or anything but during my days at Puncak Alam, we used to eat McD like, at least once in two weeks, or maybe once a week. It's not that we're so rich and high standard that we refuse to eat anything beside McD but the McD restaurant is situated only a stone's throw away from UiTM Puncak Alam. This is the main factor why we prone to say Yes whenever one of us say "Hey, makan McD jom!"

You can also say that I put the blame on McD for making me chubby and stout like this. I tried avoiding McD but the force was too powerful that we couldn't resists the temptation. I guess none of us couldn't stand not stopping by when you drive pass the building everyday. It's like there's a black hole in there. Haha. So guys, now you know why I said the picture means a lot to me. :)

:: diet dilemma ::

Salam to all my readers.

Before I can proceed with Day Out : Bukit Cerakah Part 2, I have something to share or maybe to ask you guys. Or maybe it's a confession or just me telling you what have been burden me. I don't think 'burden' is a suitable word to use but seem there's no other word I can think of right now, let just stick with 'burden'.

Okay, here we go. Up till today, its been 4 days since I eat rice. Do you know what that suppose to mean? Yeah, I'm on a diet program, monitored by me, myself and maybe my friends. Laugh it if you want, I'm used to it. Whenever I told my friend that I'm on diet, some of them laugh their asses of me. I'm not gonna complain about them, or what they did. I have tried to diet several times before but none of them work. This time, I'm ready to do it. I'm ready to face the temptation or anything that I need to face in order to have a well-sculptured body. LOL. I don't want a well-sculptured body. I just wanna be fit. I just don't want extra fat anywhere on my body.

Having said that, I do have several problems which I don't know how to crack it. Sometimes I'm clueless about what I should eat for lunch, what should I eat for dinner or should I eat this, should I eat that. These kind of problems are playing in my mind right now. I have googled the solutions and yes, there are solutions but I don't know if it can be applied here in Malaysia, or whether it suits Malaysian diet. We don't eat like what American or other countries do, and being a student really have the limitation. I don't have that much of money to spend on all the things I need for my diet. Yeah, maybe I can strain myself away from rice but I don't think I know what is the right meal to take for diet people.

~ Chicken and salad. Looks yummy don't they? ~

Other than that, being an indoor guy do challenge me in order to stick with this diet program. I don't usually go out and play sports but right now, I try to be more flexible and try to spend 10-15 minutes doing exercise which probably the hardest thing to do after organizing meals. My friends had bought two badminton rackets and I've been trying to play badminton every evening. I don't know how much of that could help me but at least I burn some calories. Oh yeah, I try to be more familiar with veggies too. Today I didn't take rice for lunch but instead I just ate the side dishes and definitely have veggies in it. I have switch from eating white bread to whole-meal bread, which double the taste as compare to the white bread. It's great.

~ Try to love veggies! ~

So guys, I really really hope that this time I can work this thing out. I have always been jealous looking at people who own a great body and for once, I wanna be proud and have high self-esteem whenever I'm around people. I wanna be in size M again. Huhu. Do pray for me people!

:: Day Out - Bukit Cerakah (Part 1) ::

Salam to all my readers.

Yesterday was another day filled with happiness, fun and a lil bit of sports as me and a bunch of vigorous teens ran and walked up the hill of Bukit Cerakah for some mind and soul therapy (read: picnic) and to enjoy breeze of fresh air. Our main plan was actually to ride the bike there but due to the overcrowded people swarming down the place, we were unable to do so but instead, all of us walked and even though we knew it's gonna be so tiring, we thought of our intention of coming here which was to burn some calories.

To be honest, I thought its better for us to walk rather than cycle because by walking, we can chit chat along the way without worrying about the road and the buses that going up and down the hill, taking down the public. And yes, we camwhore-ed a lot. We took pictures every five minutes of walking and at every single place. It was a nice time for us to release our tension over studies and other problems that been lingering in our mind, if they have one.

~ the only guys in the group ~

Ohh, I forgot to tell you, we went there with 2 cars consist of 10 people coming from 3 different houses. Each house need to bring dishes for breakfast and our house brought fried sausages and nuggets while the girls from the other house brought fried noodle, tuna sandwich and jemput-jemput. We thought we could eat all these for breakfast but our thoughts were wrong. It was too many foods there so we saved some for lunch. All I can say, it was the best breakfast time ever since I came here.

Do you guys know that there are 'Rumah Iklim' in the middle of Bukit Cerakah? Maybe those who live in Shah Alam or who have been here know but for those who doesn't, yes, they have it here. I don't know how to explain about this Rumah Iklim but basically it has four different weather plays at a different time. And yesterday was our lucky because it was winter so, we were actually experiencing how to be in London or Tokyo during winter time the moment we stepped our feet in there. So cold, like -3 degree Celsius or something. Our hands were freezing and we didn't plan for this so imagine being in there wearing only t-shirts and pants. It chills to the bone. Here are some pictures taking inside of the Rumah Iklim.

~ snowman ~

~ too bad you can see smoke coming out from our mouths ~

I have a lot to share with you guys but I don't think compress all the stories and make it into an entry is not wise coz it's gonna be like writing an essay so, stay tune for part two and more photos will be uploaded soon. Until then, have a great weekend and Happy Thaipussam for those who celebrate it.

:: khurafat vs. paranormal 2 ::

Salam to all my reader.

Yesterday was quite a fun day for me, my buddies and two sisters. It all happened without plan I even bought another shirt and it also happened, well, without plan.

So, our day started with a planned plan - attending our beloved lecturer's wedding which was held in Kajang. We drove there and it took us almost 2 hours drive from Puncak Alam to Kajang. That 2 hours include the where-is-the-right-way-to-Kajang game we played on the highway. In simple english, we lost. End of story! The wedding was in pink and purple theme which to me, one of the color I would love for my wedding in the future. Haha. Hey, we gotta plan our life, so this is part of my plan. It even got an ice-cream truck who give out ice cream for free. Yummy!

After taking pictures with the bride, which is our lecturer, we headed back home. On the way home, the thought of going to a mall and watch some movies popped up in my mind and after some deliberation, we have decided to go to The Curve and watch Khurafat, starring Syamsul Yusuf and on the rise actress, Liyana Jasmay. Well, the movies was quite slow at the beginning but it got scarier and scarier towards the middle part of the story. I give 3.5/5 stars to Khurafat because when I thought the storyline were good, Syamsul Yusuf acting however, a lil bit stiff I think. Liyana Jasmay on the other hand, superb like always.

I was thinking to watch Paranormal 2 since I took quite a time to get rid of the scenes from Paranormal 1 after watching it last year. It scares me to death man, I swear to God! I wasn't sure if I ready to go back and experience all the horror-ness again but I think I can handle it this time, hopefully. I have watched the trailer and omg, it really looks scary, maybe scarier than the first installment. Ermm, okay, I think I'm gonna drop this subject now! Huhu.

Hmm, what else that we do at The Curve? Let see, I bought a shirt accidentally because the color is grey and I have been wanting to buy a grey shirt before and it fits me just well. Not to big and not to small. Plus, it was on sale, so, I grabbed it as if I had RM1000 with me. Then we walked along the stalls around The Curve, my friends bought some stuffs and lastly, we went to Bangi Kopitiam for our late dinner. Yes, it was 11pm at we were having dinner with rice and curry and stuffs. This is fattening. I know. The food was good, delicious except for the a lil bit expensive price but it was my first time there so I guess it would be lame for me to pass it.

~ the restaurant ~

~ all of us ~

I think I'm gonna sign off now. Need to prepare for lunch. Until then guys, ciao!

:: i'm a tourist and i ate nasi beriani ::

Salam to all my readers.

Last night, me and buddies went to Jusco Bukit Tinggi and we were all excited because we never been there before. We didn't have any plan to shop but we did eventually. Well, at least I did. Bough 2 checkered shirts and a external hardisk. I can be a lil bit carry away when I shop, especially when the sales are going on and when people around me shop too. It's a like a boost for me to shop more and more and more. It's so therapeutic.

We watched The Tourist, starred the hot mama Angelina Jolie and the hunky actor Johnny Depp and the movie was great, as expected when Ange is in it and fantastic. Both of the stars really gave out their best especially Ange, I mean she's American but she can portray her character as a British women so well, amazing how she worked the British accent, as if she really from UK. Love it. For those who haven't seen the movie, go see it. Worth your time and money.

On the way home, we were all hungry and we have decided to try something different so went to Nasi King Beriani, suggested by my friend. The restaurant is located at somewhere near Hospital Klang and Jusco Bukit Tinggi. Hahaha. Sorry I don't remember the exact name of the street there but it's not hard to find. If you can locate McDonald near the Hospital Klang, I'm pretty sure you're gonna find the restaurant coz it's situated not so far from McDonald. As stated on the signboard, the restaurant serves all kinds of nasi beriani and other fried dishes too. The price for me is a lil bit expensive for students but if you wanna try something new and different, go ahead. It's worth it.

I ordered Nasi Beriani Kambing with Sirap Limau. The lamb meat was tender and juicy while the nasi beriani was aromatic but the gravy was a lil bit sweet to me. Even though I'm a Kelantanese but my family didn't usually enjoy sweet food. It's okay to eat sweet food that is suppose to be sweet, but when something that is suppose to be sour or spicy and you make it sweet, that is a No No. Maybe other Kelantanese would eat this and go, 'Oh this is so tasty, perfect!'. However, if you order a set of this nasi beriani, you'll be repleted. They serve you with lot of rice that fill your stomach till tomorrow. LOL.

:: more cookies coming up ::

Salam to all my readers

i thought i can spend my days at home without doing nothing. instead, my mom made me work during the day. but i'm not complaining. in fact i love the job. making kuih raya is one of the must have activity during Ramadhan. my raya will be meaningless without home-made kuih raya.take a look at the pics below.

~ me working out the dough ;P ~

i'm proudly can say that the cookies are tasty and it fits our expectations. 4 stars. haha. usually my mom's friends (read: people all around Tanah Merah ;P) will order a few type of cookies like almond london, chocolate moist cake and tart nenas but my mom take a different way of getting extra money this year - sewing curtains! according to her, sewing is more profitable than making cookies but as profitable as it seems, sewing is more energy demanding.

so guys, hope you enjoy making cookies at your home and appreciate this time as we seldom got a chance to sit and do activity together with our siblings.

:: i'm home! ::

Salam to all my readers

alhamdulillah, after experiencing some difficulties regarding ticket and buses, i'm finally home! can't really describe the feeling. my bus were late so i ended up arrived at Tanah Merah around 8.30 instead 0f 5.30 or 6 am. from the differences you can imagine how slow our bus is.

i just arrived less than 5 minutes when my mom suddenly asked me and my sister if we want to go shopping today. i was like, hellooo, we're your children so anything got to do with shopping you just count us in! haha. so we went home, got freshen up then headed to Kota Bharu.

although it is a week before Hari Raya, Kelantan is already packed with vehicles. buses and cars are everywhere. and imagine how crowded the car park is when we reached at KB Mall. after spending nearly 5 hours there (i forgot that i was fasting today coz i feel so energetic ;P), i ended up buying 4 stuffs. and the coolest out of four is a sling bag. i really like this bag that i forgot i should buy a pair of snicker first, coz the old one is already torn apart.

right now, i'm typing this entry while sniffing the smell of cempedak goreng my mom is making specially for me and my sister. until then..

:: Dinner and American Idol ::

Salam to all my readers

as you all know (or maybe you don't know), i'm already in my hometown. it's great to be home. you know, seeing your family, taste your mom's cooking and all that kinda stuff, nothing can compare to that.

last monday i went to UiTM Puncak Alam Pre-Graduation Dinner, held at De Palma Hotel. it was just ok, nothing great except for one thing. we didn't sit on chairs that night, but we sat on floor instead. the theme was Warisan Sepanjang Zaman so, that should explain the way we sit. the food was 3/5 stars, i mean, it was malay heritage kinda food and i'm not saying that i don't eat malay food, of course i do but the taste didn't really show the standard of the hotel.

other than that, i think i should give credit to the emcee for reading my name correctly. yeah, i was called up on stage to receive Dean List certificate. finally. after 4 sems finally i got the chance. haha. ok, forget about my thing.

since i'm home, i get the chance to watch TV and i'm looking forward to see who will be the next American Idol. my fav in this season are Aaron, Crystal, Siobhan and Lee. Michael is great too but i just like him, but to win the show, i rooted for Crystal to win this. i miss Aaron's show. i mean he wasn't as great as Archuleta (his my fav of all Idols) but his voice is soothing and his personality kinda similar to Archuleta.

~ American Idol 9 Top 12 ~

now it all come down to Crystal, Lee, Michael and Casey. honestly, i think either Aaron or Siobhan should be at Casey's position right now coz he only shines when he sings with his guitar. 2 weeks left and i can't wait to see who will win this. hope Archuleta will perform at the finale. hehe.

ok guys, until then. =)

:: when Judiene talks about health.. ::

Salam to all my readers

i have a friend, who i think is an achiever himself. i barely know him but i admire his determination on losing his weight. he went from 85 kg to 55 kg. if that's not cool, then what was it?? to me, it's a big jump. i really need to follow his foot steps

he said, his diet is not touching rice for 5 months, which i thought pretty insane coz i'm a big eater, and all he eats is spaghetti. don't know whether it's cheese spaghetti or bolognese but that what he took for 5 long months instead of rice. and i'll be as happy as when my dad treat me to Pizza Hut for my good grades if i can do what he had did to lose weight.

~ i'm so in love with KFC Twister! ~

he also spend 30 minutes to exercise, which i think a cliche idea but it works, everyday. speaking about exercise, i used to jog everyday and yeah, i feel great after that, you know, when you're sweating, it's refresh our brain and body. but i don't remember why i stop jogging. maybe i'm lazy. no no no,maybe i'm too busy to jog. yeah, like the second thought better. lol.

but i promise myself, i will not exceed 90kg. and that explain my weight is still under 90kg, thank you for the compliment (",). haha. hmm, you know what, i don't remember when is the last time i being skinny. maybe back when i was in high school. yeah, i guess it is.

so, let's keep getting better and live a healthy lifestyle.

p/s ~ gotta keep Cadburry Boast in fridge after this. huhu.

:: Goodbye HTJS - farewell party (Part 2) ::

Salam to all my readers

i'm now officially end my posting session at HTJS yesterday, and some people may say that i should be happy that i don't have to wake up early in the morning just to make sure i punch my card before 8am, but to be truth, it's not that happy. i feel different. i'm happy for that reason but i feel sad to leave all my new-made friends there, and all staffs.

but forget the sorrow for a minute coz that's not my intention of writing this entry in the first place. just before we leave HTJS, we had a grand and out-of-the-box farewell party, organized by all trainees, at Integrated Lab. we've been planning this together since early of April and now, it all a history, literally. yeah, no students had throw such a party before they ended their posting session before this. we are the first batch to do it. i'm sure all the staffs are gonna remember it.

we have collected rm850 (rm35 each) and a very big thank you to all the trainees for your support, you guys are great! although majority of them have more than a month to finish their posting session, but they willing to do this ceremony together with us. we do this all together, save time, save budget and definitely save energy.

~ k. hajar giving souvenir to Pathology Head of Department ~

at first i was so damn nervous, looking all pale coz i was afraid people wouldn't show up at our ceremony. but i was completely wrong and there were some of them who willingly and generously sponsored extra food for the guests. i was like "oh, that's great!" and they were like "no no, it's ok, if it's for the students than we'll be delighted to help". see, HTJS's staffs are good, and kind.

i feel so relieve after seeing one by one staff pass through the main door, walk in to the lab and gather round as Kak Suhana emceeing the ceremony. and the rest is history. i'm sure gonna hold to this memories and will miss you guys so so sooo much. please, don't ever forget me. friends forever! =)
